A raid in Dobbins Wednesday discovered 1,720 marijuana plants under cultivation, three men, a woman and a hazardous environmental situation, according to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department.
The 1,720 marijuana plants “far exceeded the amount for medical and recreational use,” the department said in a press release.
“Next to the cultivation site(s) was a large pond with empty bags of acid based soil submerged in the water,” along with “used soil and hazardous materials dumped in, and around, the pond. The hazardous material in the pond caused a significant environmental impact for fish and wildlife within the Foothill Community.”
The Marijuana Enforcement Team searched the residence and other structures in the 14700 block of Fountain House Road. “Several ecstasy pills, drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, opium, 500 pounds of processed marijuana, and two firearms,” were found, the department said. No street values were placed on the pot or other drugs.
The men, Johnny Saephan, 27, Lo Saephan, 40, Yao Saephan, 63, and woman, Muang Saephan, 67, were arrested for illegal marijuana cultivation with environmental violations, possession of marijuana for sales, maintaining a drug house, and conspiracy.
The Saephans were booked at the Yuba County Jail and were still in custody as of 7:40 AM Friday, with bail estimated at $100,000 each. No arraignment date has been set as of 8:11 AM, the Yuba County District Attorney’s Office told Yuba-Sutter.LIVE.
